Every year in the month of April, we have been visiting Washington, D.C. to experience the beauty of Cherry Blossoms that line the Tidal basin.  Though there is a street lined with Cherry Blossom trees right here in the neighborhood, the sheer number of trees, the water, the monuments add to the beauty of this experience.

Every single year, I feel like the number of people visiting was growing in numbers.  So this year, I decided to wake up early and visit the Tidal basin at the crack of dawn.  I bumped into several photographers there who had the same idea.

It was sheer coincidence that I chose a day when the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile run was to take place.  This was my first time watching a run.  I was amazed to see the number of people who took part in this run.  I was told almost 20,000 people participated in this Annual run.  Participants were not just locals, but from all over the US and the world.

Part of the people running were participating in the 5 mile run, but the majority of them were running for the 10 mile run.

There was also a kids ½ mile run that I would have loved to see.  Hopefully, next year I will.  Arnav is looking forward to participating in this run.  All the more reason for me to be there to watch the kids run.

Here are a couple of images of the front runners in the 10 mile run.  If you happen to know or recognize anyone from here, I will be happy to give them a copy of their images.

It did not matter if they were the first to reach the finish line or the last or some where in between, the sense of accomplishment they portrayed and the smiles on their faces were priceless.
